These flowers symbolize two aspects of the conscious mind. The red flower represents “progress”, like climbing a mountain, just before reaching the top. While the blue flower represents the caution needed to climb back down the mountain to achieve the end of a journey. The flower are originally from French chromolithographs from the 19th century.

As a conceptual digital artist I was inspired to create the brand Design by Authority to showcase mixed media artworks... I imagine my interpretation without being hindered by the historical reality. I use references and ideas that are so integrated into the process of the composition of the work that they may escape those who do not take the time to explore how and why these images resonate with the viewer, like a good film, long after you’ve seen them.
